As climate change intensifies across Africa, extreme heat is becoming one of the most urgent and under-addressed threats to vulnerable communities. In response, the TECA Heat Action Wave (THAW) Launchpad, led by BFA Global in partnership with FSD Africa, is deploying $1.1 million in funding and venture-building support to accelerate Nigerian startups building solutions for heat resilience.
We are proud to announce that three ventures from the Innov8 Hub ecosystem have been selected for this prestigious initiative:
- AgroNova (TETFAIR 2025)
- Quadloop (iFAIR Cohort 2)
- Trekk Mobility (iFAIR Cohort 3)
Their selection highlights not only the strength of their innovations but also the impact of sustained venture development and ecosystem support.
Extreme heat affects agriculture, productivity, public health, and economic stability. The THAW Launchpad focuses on scalable solutions across:
- Climate-smart cooling technologies
- Heat-related health protection
- Insurance and financial resilience mechanisms
AgroNova’s advancement as a $50,000 finalist reinforces the growing importance of climate-smart agricultural systems in protecting food security and rural livelihoods. Meanwhile, Quadloop and Trekk Mobility continue advancing circular economy and sustainable mobility solutions that reduce environmental strain while building climate resilience.
These ventures represent a broader shift toward community-driven innovation, where solutions are designed by those closest to the challenges.
Beyond Acceleration: A Long-Term Innovation Commitment
At Innov8 Hub, our vision is clear: to nurture a future where communities drive innovation, creating sustainable solutions that improve lives and accelerate socio-economic growth across Africa.
This means our programs are not endpoints. Beyond our programs like TETFAIR (TETFund Alliance for Innovative Research) and iFAIR, we provide continued support beyond technical & structured acceleration phases. Our approach includes:
- Ongoing mentorship and advisory support
- Access to grant and funding pathways
- Ecosystem matchmaking and partnerships
- Product iteration and market-readiness guidance
- Global exposure opportunities
The selection of AgroNova, Quadloop, and Trekk Mobility into the THAW Launchpad demonstrates the effectiveness of long-term venture building over short-term programming. Innovation ecosystems thrive when founders are supported consistently, not just during showcase moments.
Building Climate-Resilient Communities Through Ecosystem Strength
Climate adaptation in emerging markets requires coordinated infrastructure, not isolated interventions. By positioning ventures for platforms like THAW, Innov8 Hub reinforces its role as an ecosystem architect: connecting research, talent, funding, and partnerships to build scalable impact.
As Nigeria confronts increasing heat risks, platforms like the THAW Launchpad play a critical role in catalyzing locally grounded, investment-ready solutions.
The progress of these three ventures signals a broader outcome: when communities are equipped with the right support systems, they create solutions capable of competing on national and global stages.
